For the trini users. Give a little insight about the scene there for other users to understand

For me, being from trini, our scene/gigs are pretty seasonal, you certainly have a high point and a low point ( during carnival)
Sadly the "tribute" shows get better attendance than gigs with all local bands, which imo has a big part to play why bands dont record / mostly play covers (refer to pop rock)

Anyways, to the other trini users, feel free to add Very Happy

Mad so much to say right now... Maybe this should be covered in a future podcast episode *Idea*.

What I'll say in short is it needs all the help it can get.

There is a belief that a lack of support is the reason things are where they are, but the way I see it is if there are things hindering the progress of the scene it is the bands themselves.

If your actions show that you aren't serious [Read: Showing up 3-4 Hrs late, not recording, not writing new material, and playing more covers than originals] then your audience is going to respond in a similar fashion and not care. Remember audiences don't set standards, bands do.

    This ^

Also while I do support bands, not enough effort is put in to recording in-fucking-deed.
How can you expect to build a fan base by just playing gigs and when the potential fan looks for music from the band, it cannot be found, it just hinders whatever little hope there is of building an audience.

    Recordings before band merch k?

Oh shit, band files being brought out so soon in the thread?

On another note what about attendance at these shows? I haven't been to any in at least a year so i can't say for sure how the turn out is as of lately.
